Scottish Society of Physicians 58th Annual Meeting

Date: 28-29 October 2016
Venue: The Village Hotel, Glasgow

The programme includes:

  • Up to date specialty guidance for generalists and educational updates across a wide range of topics aimed as a generalist audience.
  • The Fitzgerald-Peel lecture will be delivered by Professor John Connell who is leading international expert on endocrine aspects of hypertension.
  • Discussion on designing new hospitals, including lessons learned from the opening of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow, with opportunity to visit the hospital.
  • Oral presentations and poster abstracts of new research from young Scottish clinicians and researchers.

Abstracts are invited for this meeting for poster or podium presentation. SSP welcomes work on any clinical, scientific or service topic from the breadth of general medicine and its subspecialties, as well as on topics such as patient safety, quality improvement and clinical audit. (Please note that abstracts focusing on individual case studies will not normally be accepted.) Abstracts will be scored and the top 4 will be selected for oral presentation.

The deadline for submissions has been extended until Friday 12 August 2016.

SSP will contact select and notify presenters of selection in early September. For submission please use the abstract template and return it to ssp.admin@rcpe.ac.uk.

The best presenter will be awarded the prestigious Fitzgerald Peel Prize. There are also prizes available for the best poster and best student poster. Presenters of abstracts selected for oral presentation will be eligible for a travel grant to support presentation of the work at national or international meetings: more information.
